About

Hi there! Welcome to my blog...I'm guessing you've landed on this page to find out a bit more about me...

My name is Daisy and I currently live in London where I work as a strategy consultant.

Originally from Sydney and Melbourne in Australia, I moved to the UK when I was 18 to pursue an undergraduate degree (and eventually a masters) at Cambridge University. Starting out in the broad Natural Sciences degree, I ended up focusing on History and Philosophy of Science.
After uni, I took 6 months off to do a variety of things, including working in an ice-cream store (which serves what I consider to be the best ice-cream I've ever had), work on a chef's organic farm in Denmark, and spend some time with my family in Australia whilst working in an organic grocery store and doing some volunteering work. I moved back to the UK in January 2019, settling in London to start my consulting job.

I am an avid lover of all things outdoors-y and active, and have always been relatively fit. I started to take running more seriously when I was at uni and decided to try my hand (or legs) at 400m Hurdles (masochist? I hear you ask). When I settled into a new chapter of life in London last year, I found myself returning to running, but with more of a focus on distance, as I found I could best fit this in around work. After running a 40.01min 10k in November 2019 off the back of very limited structured training, I decided to try to take running a bit more seriously. I've now got a great coach and have been doing sessions with a very speedy group that really pushes me! I am loving it. And, as you might have read in my first post, it's this realisation of love that has caused me to put the brakes on and sort my health out so I can get back to doing something that brings me joy.

I'm also super passionate about good food. And by good food, I mean produce grown or made with love and respect for the planet, the soil, people, and food made with love respect for the ingredients and the stories behind them. I love entertaining, cooking, and sharing food with friends After a few months in London I started up an (almost) monthly Sunday Lunch club which gave me the forum to try new dishes and share them with a small group, whilst also building confidence in the kitchen. I love trying new restaurants or cafes, and one of my favourite weekend moments is snaffling up a fresh buttery pastry with a (decaf) coffee.
